Netflix has served up some awesome original programming recently – Making a Murderer, anyone? – but its latest series is a real doozy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has ordered a comedy series based on Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso’s best-selling book #Girlboss. Even better, Amoruso will executive produce the series alongside Pitch Perfect‘s Kay Cannon, Charlize Theron, Beth Kono and Laverne McKinnon.
The series will focus on Amoruso’s rise to the top from selling vintage clothing on eBay to becoming the CEO of a $100-million-plus business – all before she turned 30, mind you.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will be “an authentic, funny, vulnerable story of horrible mistakes combined with incredible twists all from the point of view of business’s unlikeliest fashion mogul.”
Amoruso has been on a tear of late. After the publication of #Girlboss in 2014, Amoruso stepped down as the CEO of Nasty Gal so she could focus on her strengths: leading the creative and brand marketing teams. Since then, she has launched a podcast, #Girlboss Radio, which is dedicated to interviewing “world-class girlbosses” across a variety of industries.
If one thing is certain, it’s this: Amoruso has an innate ability to empower and inspire women, which means #Girlboss will be required viewing when it arrives on Netflix. Stay tuned for more details.
